J.E. Adams Internal Safety Valve is designed so that the circular area chamber and the spherical piston head is self-cleaning. The benefit is that water will continue to circulate, eliminating problems of mineral and waste build-up. Most other valves on the market - with the rubber ball and flat surfaces - do not have the self-cleaning feature. As a result, defective Pop-offs are common in the industry. Pop-offs that don't work are a frequent cause of pump head damage, which also can make you liable for any injury that may occur.
Adjusting cap is marked for easy identification. (In this example, 3000 PSI) Stainless steel spring eliminates corrosion which can lead to spring failure. Valve is screwed into pressure side of the pump head with 3/8" or 1/2" male pipe threads. Water enters and pressure builds up against stainless steel, bullet-headed piston causing it to move up. This allows pressure to vent at bottom. Provides positive seal until desired pressure is achieved. External brass construction is repairable. Order #7097 Repair Kit. 3/8" Hose barb discharge fitting. Pressure is relieved to the atomosphere when safety valve opens, saving your pump. Temperature Rating: 200° F. Flow rate 7 GPM. * Safety relief valves are not preset.

To prevent overheating and pump failure the "Thermal Relief Valve" should be installed in the by-pass line. The valve will automatically sense the rise in temperature and discharge some of the hot fluid causing the cooler fluid to enter the system and the valve will then close. The total elapsed time from when the valve opens, until it closes is 2 to 5 seconds.
